Much Ado About Nothing, Warchus/Warmington, Hysterico Passio, July 1993

May 31st, 2007 by Garth

Back in 1993, I did the sound design Much Ado About Nothing, Warchus/Warmington, Hysterico Passio, July 1993

This production showed to much critical calaim at the Queens Theatre in Shaftbury Avenue, London.

"The production is staged in a huge blue tent, on whose flaps are painted sea and clouds. The world inside the tent, with its grass and deckchairs, cocktails and sliding panels of black blinds for the villainous Don John scenes suggests the pleasure-prone Thirties." Nicholas de Jongh, Evening Standard 7.7.93

Welcome to the OpenEEG project

May 31st, 2007 by Garth

Welcome to the OpenEEG project

Many people are interested in what is called neurofeedback or EEG biofeedback training, a generic mental training method which makes the trainee consciously aware of the general activity in the brain. This method shows great potential for improving many mental capabilities and exploring consciousness. Other people want to do experiments with brain-computer interfaces or just want to have a look at their brain at work.

Unfortunately, commercial EEG devices are generally too expensive to become a hobbyist tool or toy.

The OpenEEG project is about making plans and software for do-it-yourself EEG devices available for free (as in GPL). It is aimed toward amateurs who would like to experiment with EEG. However, if you are a pro in any of the fields of electronics, neurofeedback, software development etc., there is a mailing-list to share your wisdom.

Right now, this site is mostly about the hardware; schematics, part lists, building instructions etc. However, a few members have developed some useful software which is hosted on their own websites. You can find these through the software pages.

Modern Device Company

May 31st, 2007 by Garth

BBardBoard300.jpg

Modern Device Company is a modest website to make available some of the circuit boards and electronic projects that Paul Badger has designed for use in his physical computing classes. Right now the site is focused on a variation of the Arduino, called the Bare-Bones Board. More custom sensors, and boards will be added soon. Modern Device Company.

An interesting addition is that the USB plug has been removed so that the communications chip is not on the board but external meaning you only pay for the functionallity when you need it. The board was specifically designed to work with a FTDI TTL-232R USB-to-TTL serial cable, available for $19. The FTDI cable is also a handy way to debug lots of other microcontroller serial connections and will work anywhere you need a solid USB to TTL serial connection.

The board seems very cheap

This page contains information and videos of some really loverly and very refined installation works that utilise sound as an actuator signal for soenoids, motors and other actuators that then 'play' other materials. The installation works are by Pe Lang and Zimoun
