company in space is one of Australia’s most innovative performance companies who are pushing computer and communication technologies to access new pathways between performer and audience. As the Company’s work has developed in technical complexity, these interactive systems have become more invisible, leaving a unique and profound amalgam of choreography, imagery and sound. Their performance work can be extended to connect to audiences world-wide by using video conferencing and the internet.
"the best work of this kind I’ve seen. company in space successfully integrate technology, dance, rhetoric and the performers qualities to make something both confronting and thrillingly entertaining."

A Trial By Video is a chilling and confrontational work that places culture, race and political power on trial. The choreography of gestures, from the persuasiveness of politicians to the anguish of the victim, is territory that can profoundly affect us all. Video projection, interacting with sound and dance, both constructs and disintegrates this power. The audience, who promenade through the installation, will experience the intensity of the performance, switching from ease to discomfort, like the switch from actuality to the video screen.
"challenging and indeed breathtaking advances into art technology and dance."
Australian Multi Media
Devised by John McCormick, with interactive sound design by Garth Paine, the piece is performed by Louise Taube, John McCormick and Hellen Sky and Garth Paine; it also utilises real time camera operators, computer vision mixers and lighting designers.
